Our stainless steel cable trunking is a closed, rectangular channel with a removable lid, made from corrosion-resistant stainless steel. It encloses the cables completely and does not depend on a zinc or paint coating for rust protection, so it suits damp, washdown, hygienic, and corrosive locations where galvanized trunking would not last. It is strong, easy to clean, and keeps a neat appearance for years, with a lid that can be opened whenever cables need to be added or changed.

Key Features
- Fully enclosed: the base, sides, and lid enclose the cables and keep out dust and accidental contact
- Corrosion resistant: the stainless steel itself resists rust, with no coating to chip or wear off
- Easy to clean: a smooth surface suits washdown and hygienic areas
- Strong and durable: steel strength with a long service life and little maintenance
- Heat resistant: holds its strength at higher temperatures than aluminum
- Easy cable access: a removable lid lets cables be added or changed without taking the trunking down
- Complete system: matching bends, tees, reducers, end caps, and lids can be supplied

Where to Use It
- Food, beverage, and pharmaceutical plants
- Chemical and petrochemical plants
- Coastal, marine, and offshore locations
- Water and wastewater treatment plants
- Hospitals, laboratories, and clean areas
- Tunnels and other damp or washdown areas
SS304 or SS316?
| SS304 | SS316 | |
|---|---|---|
| General corrosion resistance | Good | Good |
| Chlorides (salt, seawater, some chemicals) | Limited | Better, because it contains molybdenum |
| Typical use | Indoor, damp, and food areas | Coastal, marine, and chemical areas |
| Cost | Lower | Higher |
Stainless Steel or Galvanized Steel Trunking?
| Stainless steel | Galvanized steel | |
|---|---|---|
| Corrosion resistance | Excellent, throughout the material | Depends on the zinc layer |
| Hygiene and washdown | Well suited | Less suited |
| Service life in harsh areas | Longest | Shorter |
| Cost | Higher | Lower |
Good to Know
- Match the hardware: use stainless steel fasteners of the same grade. Carbon steel hardware can rust and stain the trunking
- Avoid contamination: cutting or grinding with carbon steel tools can leave particles that rust, so use stainless-specific tools and clean the cut edges
- Check the fill: a closed channel gives less airflow, so check cable ratings and fill if the cables run warm
- Allow for expansion: long runs may need expansion joints, since stainless steel moves with temperature
- Grounding: joints and the lid should be bonded and tested according to your project specification
- Choose the grade by environment: confirm whether SS304 is enough or SS316 is needed, especially near salt or chemicals
