Our plastic connector for flexible metal conduit joins a flexible metal hose to a junction box, enclosure, or equipment. One end grips the metal hose, and the other end has a male thread that passes through the box wall and is fixed with a locknut. Made from engineering plastic, it does not rust, it is light, and it has a smooth inner bore that protects cables at the entry. It is used where flexible metal conduit connects to boxes and equipment in dry and damp indoor routes.

Key Features
- Grips the metal hose: the connector locks onto the flexible metal conduit so it stays attached during bending and movement
- Corrosion free: plastic does not rust, so it suits damp indoor areas where a metal fitting could corrode
- Lightweight: light to carry and quick to fit
- Smooth inner bore: a rounded opening protects cables from the sharp end of the metal hose
- Threaded box end: the male thread passes through the box wall and is fixed with a locknut
- Insulating body: the plastic body does not conduct current
- Sizes to match the hose: available for common flexible metal conduit sizes

Where to Use It
- Connecting flexible metal conduit to junction boxes and distribution boards
- Connecting flexible metal conduit to motors, lamps, and machines
- Short flexible links where rigid conduit cannot reach
- Offices, shops, and commercial buildings
- Factories, workshops, and equipment rooms
Plastic or Metal Connector?
| Plastic connector | Metal connector | |
|---|---|---|
| Corrosion | Does not rust | Depends on the coating |
| Weight | Light | Heavier |
| Electrical conduction | Non-conductive | Conductive |
| Grounding through the fitting | No | Yes, if the fitting is designed for it |
| Strength and heat resistance | Lower, set by the plastic | Higher |
| Cost | Usually lower | Usually higher |
Good to Know
- Not a ground path: a plastic connector does not carry earth current, so the metal hose is not bonded through it. If the hose must be earthed, add a separate bonding conductor as the project specifies
- Match the hose: the connector must suit the hose size and type, so confirm the outer diameter before ordering
- Match the thread: the thread size and standard must match the box knockout or the equipment port
- Check the conditions: plastic has temperature and strength limits, so confirm the operating temperature and any fire requirements against your project specification
- Tighten the locknut firmly: but do not over-tighten, which can crack plastic
- Sealing: for wet or washdown locations, use a connector with a sealing ring or gasket, as the project requires
